The Wilder Fire Department was first established in 1957 by a small group of citizens concerned about fire protection within the city. At that time is was an all-volunteer department that was equiped with a man drawn hose cart. Today the department consists of career, part-time and volunteer personnel lead by a career fire chief and is operational 24 hours a day.
